The 12.9″ iPad Pro originally launched in November of 2015. It’s not exactly new, but we came across one recently. That allows us to do an iPad Pro unboxing video, and go hands-on with Apple’s 12.9″ tablet. The 12.9″ iPad Pro is quite a site to behold, especially if you have become familiar with the 9.7″ iPad. The 12.9″ is extraordinary, as though Apple ripped off the screen part of the 13″ Macbook, and added a capacitive touch screen. The device is naturally longer and wider than the 9.7″ iPad Pro/iPad Air 2, and yet it’s only 0.27″ thick as compared to 0.24″. The 12.9″ model is also 1.57 lbs. compared to 0.96 lbs. of the 9.7″ model. The weight increase is surprisingly not noticeable as it’s distributed over a wider area to reduce density.

The 12.9″ iPad Pro doesn’t have many apps made for the larger canvas, and yet it still offers the benefit of immersive video viewing and game playing. Even though the interface isn’t different, it still is beneficial to feel like you have more room to maneuver in iMovie and Pixelmator. Multi-tasking and picture in picture are also great on the iPad Pro. It’s not a revolutionary device, but there are definite benefits to the bigger screen.
